NEW!! - SpheriSil-SPPS - Check out our new spherical silica resin for SPPS
SpheriSil-SPPS is a unique macroporous spherical silica which has been employed to act as a mechanically robust skeletal structure to support a range of swellable polymers. SpheriSil-SPPS's large internal pore volume enables efficient encapsulation of polymers which are routinely used for peptide synthesis and optimum mass transport throughout the particles, whilst ensuring the structural integrity of the polymer is maintained through the assembly. This allows for SpheriSil-SPPS's application in both fixed bed columns and flatbed bed reactors.
Current solid phase peptide synthesis (SPPS) supports shrink and swell during peptide assembly which complicated column based operations and ultimately leads to higher solvent consumption when used in a flatbed reactor. The coupling efficiency is lost when the support is too ridged and has no swelling profile. SpheriSil-SPPS acts as a suitable intermediate, where the encapsulated polymer can freely swell inside the silica exoskeleton whilst the resin bed depth remains constant. This ensures efficient coupling/deprotection with decreased solvent consumption, thereby decreased PMI.
Particle size: 300-500µm allowing for high flow rates and use of large porosity filters eliminating filter blockage
Loading: Standard SpheriSil-SPPS has a loading capacity of 1mmol/10ml of packed column though custom loadings can be prepared upon request
At Spheritech we encapsulate MacroGel inside standard SpheriSil-SPPS though we can incorporate any polymer upon request
